HypnoBirthing® Testimonials

‘Thank you so much for the course, it made such a huge difference to us both, and gave me such confidence that the births would be ok. The breathing techniques really helped and I stayed calm throughout most of the labour. I actually enjoyed the first phase which went very quickly. It really felt like going within my birthing body. I had some gas and air for the birthing but no drugs as I really didn’t need them.’

‘Having had a complicated and exhausting labour with my first child I was deeply apprehensive (perhaps petrified) about the arrival of my second. I thought I would ask for a C-section, but this procedure seemed equally unnerving. I then spoke to a friend who, like me, had had a very difficult first pregnancy- she then tried HypnoBirthing for her second child and could not rate the results highly enough (she delivered her second baby easily and without medical intervention)..... We enrolled for the HypnoBirthing classes. We learned the relaxation techniques and visualizations- by the time my second baby decided to come into the world I felt unbelievably relaxed and excited about the birth. I stayed at home in the bath until I felt ready to go to the hospital and by the time I arrived there I was already 9cms dilated. It had all happened so calmly and gently. I felt completely in control and at one with my body and the baby’s – we were like a little team and in a short time he was in my arms and snuggled in.’

‘I started feeling period like cramps in the evening. My waters had broken earlier, but it was now starting to feel different, and I felt like labour was starting. I felt very relaxed but extremely hungry. We had supper and watched tv. After a while the surges started getting tighter and harder. I decided to get my partner to fill my birthing pool. I relaxed deeply in it for a couple of hours. The surges were getting closer and stronger and tighter. We called my midwife when my surges were 4 or 5 minutes apart. She came right over and was really helpful and supportive, and spoke nice and calmly, which was very helpful. My partner was great reminding me to do my breathing and giving the birth prompts. It was great that they were both calm- it really helped having calm voices and listening to the rainbow CD. About an hour later I felt the urge to bear down and our son, Ben, was born a few minutes later! He’s been very calm and feeding really well, and I’m sure the relaxation exercises helped him too.’

‘Tom was born at home in such a short birth compared to my others- only 4 hours. When the midwife arrived she found it hard to believe I was in labour- I was so relaxed and calm. I was using the slow breathing with the sleep breathing in between, and listening to John and the rainbow CD. I can’t tell you how good this was. My waters went and I found myself just going with my instincts to bear down. Then I gave two big pushes and Tom was out. Everything went well and only a couple of stitches. Added to this, he’s a really content baby. I’d definitely recommend it.’
